Inviting and managing people

Invite people by phone, email or a spreadsheet, approve join requests, and remove members.

Open your circle in the admin dashboard and choose People. The page has three tabs: Members, Invited, and Want to join.

Invite one person

1. Choose Invite someone.
2. Enter their first name. A last name is optional, and Family circles can also note how they are related to you.
3. Choose Phone or Email and enter their details.
4. To let them help run the circle, turn on Make them an admin. This shows only while one of the circle’s three admin seats is free.
5. Choose Send invite.

They get a text message or an email with a link to join. If they are already invited or already in the circle, Ember tells you instead of sending a second invite.

Invite many people at once

1. Choose Upload a list. Use Download template to get a CSV file with the right columns.
2. Fill in one person per row. Required: first_name, primary_language, and email or phone_number. Optional: last_name, birth_date, gender, and instagram_handle. Column order does not matter, and Ember ignores columns it does not know. A file can have up to 1,000 rows.
3. Upload the file. Everyone in it is added to the circle straight away, so check it first.
4. Choose Trigger invite emails/texts to send their invitations.

If some rows fail, choose Download failed rows, fix them, and upload them again.

Follow up on invites

The Invited tab lists everyone who has not joined yet, how they were invited, and when. Choose Cancel invite to withdraw one. The link they were sent stops working, and you can invite them again later.

Approve join requests

When someone asks to join your circle, they appear under Want to join, and a number shows next to People in the menu. Choose Approve or Decline.

Remove someone

On the Members tab, open the actions next to a person and choose Remove from circle. If they have joined, the memories they recorded in this circle are archived and they lose access. You can invite them again later. You cannot remove yourself or the primary admin here.

Who else can invite

Members can invite people too, unless you turn off Members can invite people in Settings. Members invite one person at a time from this page. Only admins can upload a list or make someone an admin.
