Opening the admin dashboard
Where circle admins run a circle from, and what the Overview shows.
People record their stories in the Ember app on their phone. Running a circle happens on the web: inviting people, adding memories you already have, writing topics, and changing settings.
Open the dashboard
- On a computer, go to rem.ember.build, or choose admin login at the top of this site.
- Sign in with Google, your phone, or your email. Use the same account you use in the app.
- Under Circles you manage, choose Manage on the circle you want to run.
Circles where you are a member but not an admin are listed under Circles you belong to. You can open them and look around, but only admins can write topics and change settings.
To start a new circle, choose Start a new circle, give it a name, and pick Family or Affiliation. You become its admin, and the type cannot be changed later.
Find your way around
Every circle has five pages in its menu:
- Overview: shortcuts and a few numbers about the circle.
- Memories: every story your circle has shared, plus recordings and transcripts you upload. See Adding and looking after memories.
- Topics: the prompts your people record stories about. See Shaping your circle’s topics.
- People: who has joined, who is invited, and who wants to join. See Inviting and managing people.
- Settings: the circle’s profile, its admins, and its plan. See Settings, admins and your plan.
Choose the circle’s name at the top of the menu to switch circles, or All circles to go back to your list.
A number next to Memories, People, or Topics in the menu means something there needs you: uploads to check, people asking to join, or topics Ember did not approve.
What the Overview shows
- What would you like to do? Shortcuts to Invite people, Ask for a story, and Create a topic.
- Counts of memories, members, people active in the last 30 days, and stories published.
