How we came up with our pricing model to support product development focused on privacy, meaningful sharing, and data ownership.

We’re of the opinion that your memories and your data belong to you (we know, this a shocking thought in the world of Big Tech, isn’t it?)

Funding product development to support your mission to preserve stories should not require us to run a surveillance advertising or data brokerage model.

So, we charge a subscription - support us with your cash, not with your personal data.

That said, we believe in user choice. And in fairness, better telemetry/visibility does help us improve our product.

So, we offer discounts through our Pioneer pricing: if you want a cheaper subscription rate in exchange for granting us the privilege to access your app usage and patterns, you can exchange this for a lower bill. The choice is yours.

Our principles

Don’t be Meta. Ember charges subscriptions so it does not need to harvest and sell your memories to support the product.

Share what you choose. Some stories are for everyone you love, and some are only for you. Pricing should respect both private and shared memory use.

Provide meaning. Ember is meant to turn conversations into durable, shared meaning, not just generate disposable content.
